Based on Major Scale Roots
Explore this pleasant sounding exercise sequence featuring 11th-chord shapes, with chord tones ascending in staggered Perfect 5ths - based off of each step of the Major Scale.
Sounds complex? It's really not!
Aside from the unison and the octave, the interval of a Perfect 5th (P5) is the most consonant and stable of all the intervals, due to its place between the 2nd and 3rd harmonic within the natural overtone series.
The challenge here comes with practicing and performing melodies, scale sequences, etc., with wider intervals, meaning that the interval of a 5th - perfect or otherwise - is an excellent place to start.
